Spirometry

Spirometry is a common breathing test used to determine how much and how fast you can get the air out of your lungs. You are asked to take a big breath in and blow it out as hard and long as you can into a machine. You will be asked to do this at least 3 times to make sure that we get the best test possible. You are then given a medication to breathe in, and then the test is done again to see if the medicine makes your breathing better. Spirometry is the only way to truly tell if you have COPD.
