Important!!  The Peterborough Clinic does not offer a Walk-In Clinic service. 
 
The Extended Hours Service is only available to patients who have a family physician within the Clinic.   For further details about the Extended Hours service, please click on Extended Hours Service For Clinic Family Practice 
 
There are no family physicians taking on new patients at this time.  It is highly suggested to register with Health Care Connect - a provincial waitlist - to connect with a primary care provider accepting new patients.

The roundabout is reserved for patient transporting vehicles, emergency vehicles and to allow quick patient drop off or pick-up. Parking within the new roundabout is not permitted for any reason.  Vehicles will be monitored and ticketed.  It is encourage to use the patient/ visitor parking lot adjacent to the Clinic.  There are 20 minutes of free parking and ample parking/ accessible spaces available closer to the Clinic in the lower lot.

Dr. Cindy Cheung joined the Clinic in 2002.  Cindy attended Dalhousie University Medical School in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology in 1993, and a medical degree in 1997.  In 2002, before moving to Peterborough, Cindy graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University obtaining a specialty in Ophthalmology.

Cindy’s professional affiliations are with the Canadian Ophthalmology Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  Cindy is also certified by the Medical Council of Canada, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the American Board of Ophthalmology.

For extracurricular activities, Cindy enjoys walking, swimming, karate, and painting.

Dr. J. D. Hurst MD, FRCS(C)

Dr. Jonathan Hurst was born only a few meters from the Peterborough Clinic building in the old Civic Hospital (now just a parking lot across the street).  He left the Peterborough area after high school to earn a liberal arts degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Jonathan returned to Canada to begin medical training in Kingston where he earned his medical degree in 2010 from Queens University and completely his residency training in Ophthalmology in 2015.

Jonathan and his wife, Janet Hurst, an anesthesiologist, took positions at PRHC in the summer of 2015.  Jonathan started his comprehensive ophthalmology practice at the Peterborough Clinic at the same time.  Since moving to Peterborough their family has grown with the addition of a son, James and a daughter, June.  Jonathan’s hobbies used to include biking, skiing, windsurfing, travelling and bodybuilding.

Jonathan’s professional affiliations are as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, with the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and the Canadian Ophthalmology Society (COS).  He is an Associate Professor (adjunct) in the Queen’s University Department of Ophthalmology.”

Dr. K. D. McReelis MD, FRCS(C)

Dr. Kylen McReelis joined the Clinic in 2005. Kylen attended the University of Toronto where he received his medical degree as well completed his postgraduate training in Ophthalmology.

Dr. McReelis is affiliated with the Canadian Society of Ophthalmologist and Primary Eyecare Ontario. Kylen also runs a clinic in Bancroft, Ontario each month with the North Hastings Family Health Team.

Kylen and his wife Julie are proud parents of two busy boys. Kylen enjoys skiing and golfing in his spare time.

Dr. W. L. Rogers MD, FRCS(C)

Ophthalmology Locum

Dr. Bill Rogers joined the Clinic in 1982. Bill attended the University of Western Ontario, where he received his medical degree in 1978 and completed his postgraduate training in Ophthalmology in 1982.

Bill is a member of the Canadian Ophthalmology Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Bill has devoted many years on the Peterborough Clinics’ Executive, and as Chairman Section of Ophthalmology at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

Bill and his wife Deborah have two grown children and enjoy spending family time at the cottage and golfing. Bill is an avid hockey fan and player, volunteering his time as a goal tender coach and consultant. He also plays both organized and pickup hockey two or three times a week.  Additionally, Bill tries to find time during the winter months for downhill skiing and snowboarding.

Dr. J. Y-T. Yeung MD, MSc, FRCS(C)

Dr. Yeung joined the Peterborough Clinic in the fall of 2011. He attended the University of Toronto where he obtained his Master of Science in 2002 and Doctor in Medicine in 2006.  Dr. Yeung then completed his post-graduate ophthalmology residency training at Queen’s University from 2006 to 2011. After a few years in practice, Dr. Yeung took a sabbatical year to complete an extra year of sub-specialization fellowship training in Glaucoma and Complex Anterior Segment surgery at the University of Toronto during 2015-2016.

Dr. Yeung’s professional affiliations are with the Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC), Ontario Medical Association (OMA), Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and the Canadian and American Glaucoma Societies (CGS and AGS).  Dr. Yeung is also an adjunct professor in the department of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University and is involved in teaching at the medical school.

Dr. Yeung volunteered his services for 2 weeks in Syria with ORBIS International in 2011. He continue to have an interest in international ophthalmology.
